Dr. Dave Dick is the Principal Trombone player of the Regina Symphony Orchestra. As an active freelance musician performing on trombone, bass trombone, alto trombone, sackbut, and euphonium, Dave regularly performs in a wide variety of settings including orchestras, chamber groups, early music ensembles, wind ensembles, and jazz ensembles.

Before returning to Regina Dave was Principal Trombone of the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra and Mississippi Symphony Brass Quintet, where he made appearances throughout the state of Mississippi in performance and educational settings with the orchestra, chamber ensemble, and brass quintet. He was also adjunct professor of music theory and trombone for Belhaven University and adjunct professor of graduate music theory at Jackson State University in Jackson, MS.

While in the Southern United States, Dave received the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in performance with a minor in music theory from the University of Memphis where he was awarded the Graduate Performance Award for music.

Dave received the Master of Music degree in Performance from McGill University in Montreal as a part of McGill's Orchestral Training Program where he was selected as a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Canada and a fellow at the Aspen Summer Music Festival.

He received the Bachelor of Music Degree in Performance from the University of Regina, where he received awards for Outstanding Orchestral Performance Major and Most Distinguished Graduate in Fine Arts. Dave was the bass trombone player for the Regina Symphony Orchestra and low brass instructor for the University of Regina Conservatory of Music while working on his undergraduate degree.

Dave has had the pleasure of performing with many different music ensembles including the Memphis Symphony, Arkansas Symphony, Jackson Symphony, Delta Symphony, the Mississippi Opera Orchestra, the Saskatchewan Opera Orchestra, the Memphis Consortium for Early Music, the Dave Lisik Jazz Orchestra, and the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra.

Dave's teachers have included James Box (McGill), John Mueller (University of Memphis), Richard Raum (University of Regina), Alistair Kay (Humber College), Richard Erb (National Youth Orchestra), Michael Powell (Aspen), John Rojak (Aspen), Alain Trudel (Orford Festival), and Doug Gummeson (high school).

Dave teaches for the University of Regina and the University of Regina Conservatory of Performing Arts.
